The vegan food sector is very rapidly growing. Recent, large-scale studies into health outcomes, environmental sustainability and other key concerns for consumers, are supporting the emergence of a new disruptive pet food industry. The environmental impacts of meat-based pet food are globally significant. Vegan pet foods use plant, mineral and synthetic sources to supply necessary nutrients. UK-based veterinary Professor Andrew Knight is one of the leading researchers in this field. In this presentation he shares exciting, recent research concerning the environmental impacts of pet food, and the benefits achievable through the use of nutritionally-sound vegan diets. He also summarises results of key studies concerning health outcomes, and studies of how much dogs and cats enjoy vegan pet foods, compared to those based on meat. Further information:
